Muriel performs Sex & the Picnic forecast at Deadly is the Female

Frome’s most glamorous poet Muriel Lavender popped open a bottle of champagne for an evening with Frome.tv’s presenter and senior stylist Claudia Kapp from Deadly is the female.  In this intimate feature Muriel delves into what it is to be a woman, explains burlesque poetry and reveals who she had a crush on in the 80′s whilst getting a tattoo for him at Black inc in Frome.

“When I was born, my dear Mamma and Papa were, it seems, quite unable at first to
give me a name. Weeks dragged by, in which I was known as – what? – as ‘Baby’, I
should imagine; or ‘She’, as in ‘Darling, I think She’s hungry’, or ‘Shh! She’s asleep’.
After a time, with me still a nameless babe, a good friend of my Mamma’s
announced quite firmly that ‘if you don’t name that child at once, I shall call her
MURIEL LAVENDER!’ That good lady did not get her wish; I was borne along to
the Registrar and a name of unexceptionable character was bestowed upon me.
Muriel was no more. Years passed. Muriel remained quietly and obediently
somewhere on the edge of consciousness. Until one Christmas… …when she
SUDDENLY CAME BACK.”

What a pleasure to see Muriel so natural and relaxed – well done Claudia you captured Muriel perfectly. Thank you Muriel for sharing your poems with the rest of the world – such a treat to be able to hear your dulcet tones from my very own sofa. I do hope to catch you again very soon. p.s. Do you need a bag carrier for Edinburgh?

Loved the video and Muriel’s poetry is as always a great delight. Claudia is a charming presenter and the whole atmosphere of the film is delightful. Just a couple of gripes, though – the tattoo studio is called Black INC (pun most definitely intended – you call it Black Ink!), and I wondered whether anything could be done about the sync of the video, particularly on the 2-shots of Muriel and Claudia and on the long shots of Muriel standing in the changing room? But all in all the concept, shape, duration and content of the piece are excellent.

PS I’m a bit partisan about the tattoo studio as I am Miss Jo’s mum!

  3. Gorgeous Muriel! And I’m very proud to be named as one of the fairies around the crib of Muriel – though you know the magic is all your own! xxx

Hi Carol, will amend inc. Sync on original is good, vimeo server is not what it used to be for streaming. We aim to build our own, just have to bug bear at present, will attempt another upload if others continue to see this. Thanx
    for taking time o feedback.
